“Coffee Run” by Damu The Fudgemunk is a revamped version of his “Coffee Table” instrumental, one of the most popular songs from the original “Spare Time” LP. Spare Time was first released a few years ago as a free download / digital only album. Damu gathered all of his original floppy diskettes and record the new LP, Spare Overtime, he discovered that two of the OG beats, fan favs Coffee & Randi, could not be recovered because the floppy disks they were created on had been demagnetized and no longer functioned. Occurrences like this are par for the course when accessing magnetic data stored on aging floppy disks via what could now be considered ancient machinery. While technical failures prevented Damu from reloading and revising the original Coffee Table track as well as another fan favorite, Randi, he wasn’t willing to walk away or simply make use of the existing (lo-fi mp3) recordings. Instead, Damu took it as an opportunity to update previous ideas and techniques with something fresh. Reworking the same records in a new way, there are elements that are obvious, but the identity of the new version stands alone. Coffee Run was done with the intention of flipping the samples in the fashion and feel of a candidate that would’ve been selected for “How it Should Sound”. That album in particular has taken on a life of it’s own and many people recognize Damu The Fudgemunk for that style. Coffee Run is a message to assure fans, he still does it best. (Side note: despite their place in his fans hearts, Coffee Table and Randi are “nothing special,” according to Damu, who considers them some of his least favorites in his catalog.)
Coffee Run and Spirit of Ummah (Randi Revised) are available on Damu’s Spare Overtime LP / Bonus 45.
Available on VINYL, DIGITAL, CD and CASSETTE.

About Spare Overtime / Damu The Fudgemunk & Redefinition
It was 5 years ago. If you’re familiar with “How it Should Sound” (RDF007), this is how it all started. Back in winter
of 2008, Damu the Fudgemunk released a collection of instrumentals entitled, “Spare Time” (RDF002) as a free digital download to the masses. It was this album that introduced Damu as a solo artist and Redefinition Records to thousands, taking blogs and file sharing sites by storm. “Spare Time”
was such a success, that a sequel “Overtime” (RDF003) was released in the summer of 2008. Collectively, both “Spare Time” and “Overtime” have exceeded over 200,000 downloads to date. With the rapid growth of Redef and the expansion of Damu the Fudgemunk, several titles have been released since
in various formats making both the brand and artist, one of the most respected and relevant in independent hip hop. Ironically, “Spare Time” and “Overtime” never saw a proper release on vinyl or cd until now. The fans have spoken over the years requesting this material in physical form and to popular demand, “Spare Overtime RE-Inspired…” is the answer.
